Your learning path to becoming a Certified IT Security Officer
Our IT-Security Certification Track is a four-level certification program tailored for those who aspire to start a career in IT-security and advance to a high-level IT security role.
The program was developed by experienced and committed IT security managers and cybersecurity advisors. The certification levels address the knowledge and hands-on skills you need to possess in order to become a successful IT security professional who is able to overcome today’s risks and anticipate tomorrow’s threats.
As you evolve through the certification levels, you will learn to master all aspects of technological information security, and you will earn the competence-based credentials that enable you to build a thriving security career.
Certification levels
From Foundation to Expert, each certification level comprises a practice-oriented training course and a certification exam.
Each certification exam tests the knowledge and industry-established competencies covered in the corresponding course.
Attending a course is not a prerequisite for taking a certification exam.
IT Security Foundation is an entry-level course designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of the technical aspects of information security. Following this course, you will understand fundamental information technology and security concepts, and you will gain a practical overview of IT infrastructure components, vulnerabilities and protections.
IT Security Practitioner prepares you for the implementation of IT security principles. In this course, you obtain an advanced understanding of incident management, network, system and application security, encryption, identity & access management and ethical hacking. The course is rich with hands-on assignments that ready you for performing an IT Security Manager’s tasks.
IT Security Expert was developed for experienced IT security professionals with ambitions to become a Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst. The course equips you with the knowledge and skills you need to assume responsibility for threat detection, analysis and response, and improve your organisation’s overall security posture.
Certified IT Security Officer is a step above IT Security Expert. In addition to an excellent understanding of IT security principles and practices, SECO-Certified IT Security Officers (S-CITSO title holders) must demonstrate the ability to design, implement and manage a secure IT infrastructure. To qualify for a Certified IT Security Officer certificate, you need to have expert knowledge of IT security and at least three years of work experience in an IT security role.
